Friday the 17th of August marks National Blood Bike Awareness Day and to share its gratitude to the blood transporting heroes, One Broker is donating £1000 to two local charities.

The £1000 donation was raised by One Broker staff and the business while fundraising for 2018’s Run Norwich event. Nine runners volunteered from One Broker’s Cambridge and Norwich offices to complete the 10k race, heralded as one of Norfolk’s most popular sporting events.

One Broker has been a keen supporter of local blood bike organisations, SERV Norfolk and SERV Suffolk and Cambridgeshire (S&C), since June last year and has now raised a total of £3400 for the charities. Both SERV Norfolk and SERV S&C complete fantastic work across East Anglia, transporting blood, blood products and even breast milk between hospitals during hours when NHS funded transport is unavailable. This saves the hospital trusts serving local communities thousands of pounds on courier fees, meaning resources can be more effectively spent on frontline care.

Rob Rowley, Account Executive of One Broker’s independent ambulance scheme, KTIB Ambulance, commented "Up and down the country people are celebrating the brilliant work carried out by Blood Bikers. In the middle of the night, these men and women leave their beds to travel miles on their motorbikes with vital, often life saving medical supplies. One Broker is saying its thank you to two of our local Blood Bike groups by donating £500 to each charity".
